I can garauntee you …that most likely you HAVE been manipulated by AI at least sometime in the past
Whenever you are nudged….. to buy a product being recommended on an e-commerce platform
…or when you apply to a job being shown to you by a job portal … or watch a movie based on app recommendations
These are examples of small decision making instances which we have outsourced to AI
Maybe these are harmless and hopefully these are recommendations that prioritize our preferences rather than the business profitability!
As we talk about regulations to develop ethical AI - we as consumers need to take steps to be in the drivers seat for important life decisions!
The upcoming AI ACT attempts to address AI manipulation but a lot more work needs to go into defining what constitutes manipulative AI
